Mr. Glenn Perry, Sensei, is a dedicated martial artist with over five decades training experience
in the martial arts of Shotokan Karate, Goju-Ryu, and Chinese Goju Karate, Japanese arts of
Hakko-Ryu Ju-Jutsu, Black Dragon Aiki-Jitsu and Zen-Do. He is a passionate “Career Sensei”,
lifetime martial arts student and historian. Mr. Perry trained under several highly respected
senior masters such as Sensei Al Govine, Toyotaro Miyazaki, Masakazu Takahashi, George
Cofield and Professor Pierre Rene. He is also proud to call Sensei Peter Urban as one of his
Glenn Perry trained exclusively as a closed-door deciple under
Shidoshi Ron Van Clief, for close to 50 years. In 1986 he became
the youngest 6th degree black belt, ‘Master Instructor’, in the
Chinese Goju System. In addition, in 1999, his teacher, Shidoshi
Ron Van Clief recognized Perry as the ‘senior master’ and
presented him with the prestigious title of ‘Soke’.
Perry believes in applying the concepts of “Economy of Motion”,
focusing on low energy input which result in – high “painful”
output as well as various self-protection tactics including the use of
small, ‘concealable’ hand held weapons.
Perry strives to balance the ‘hard-soft’
capabilities of Aiki-Jitsu and the principles
of GO-JU Karate as a way of life!
Glenn Perry is a passionate student of the
arts of BUDO and a martial arts historian.
He conducts seminars and lectures on the
development of martial arts in America.
Perry’s ongoing mission is the continued
growth of Black Dragon Aiki-Jitsu.
In 2012 Grandmaster Ron Van Clief held a ceremony in which he designated Mr. Perry as the
inheritor and Headmaster of Black Dragon Aikijitsu. He also holds the title of ‘Soke’ in
Chinese Goju Karate.
Shidoshi Perry is also the current President of ‘The World Headmasters Sokeship Council’,
which is an international organization which strives to publicly recognize and highlight senior
